Chili Garden

Without a doubt the best meal we've had since we arrived in Mexico 5 weeks ago. I absolutely loved everything. The menu is so interesting, be prepared for a difficult decision when ordering! Konnie gave us some great tips though to help us make great choices. We loved our meal so much on our first visit, we booked to return before we even left! You have to try the Green Papaya Salad - it's so fresh with a little bit of heat, it's to die for. The butter chicken is also so flavoursome, and the ribs On our second visit we went more Vietnamese and ordered the BBQ pork noodles (I've honestly never had pork like this in my life - you will not regret ordering this) and the Pad Thai with beef. The beef so succulent, it just melted in your mouth! I haven't even mentioned the delicious desserts- a refreshing and delicious key lime pie and a great vegan brownie with vegan ice cream. Wow If we were staying longer in PE, we would return many more times. You have to go here! Bring cash and reserve in What's App in advance. And go hungry because you will want to order everything!! Chili Garden is such a hidden gem in Puerto Escondido! The ambience is so zen — think peaceful lighting, cozy vibes, and just the right amount of music in the background. I ordered the butter chicken and pad thai, and wow... the butter chicken was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Rich, creamy, perfectly spiced. The pad thai was great too, super flavorful and balanced, but that butter chicken stole the show. Definitely coming back. Highly recommend if you’re craving South Asian flavors with a chill, relaxing atmosphere.

This place is hidden hidden—and that’s exactly why it rules. Tucked way off the beaten path north of the highway towards the airport, it almost feels like you’re walking into someone’s secret. Small sign, no crowd, just trust and vibes. But once you’re in, the whole thing unfolds like a slow burn: warm welcome, killer flavors, and food that feels like it was made with heart and just the right amount of heat. Each course came out swinging—sharp, layered, unapologetic. Like street food trained in fine dining and ready to slap you in the face. Got a moto? You’re golden. No wheels? Grab a taxi and go. It’s not the easiest place to find—but the best ones never are. And once you know—you'll know. Expand your horizons, make it an adventure. You’ll leave full and stoked you found it.

My bf and I came here several times during our stay. The food was delicious! We loved the atmosphere and sitting on the floor couches and table. I personally love cats and loved seeing them hanging around the space too.

Delicious! Outside seemed like the restaurant was in the middle of nowhere but the inside was beautifully decorated. Very yummy fish curry and BBQ pork noodles. The bartender, Johnathon, was very talented and creative with drinks. We had a very good time here and enjoyed all the food and drinks.

Ok let's start by saying the adventure of getting to this place was cool then they open the door and the smell makes you feel like you found a secret garden of edible pleasures. Somehow the chef has mastered then remixed southeastern and Asian flavors into a new experience without taking anything away from tradition. My wife had been craving green curry from Thailand since we got home and this place filled the void she had in her belly. Plus they have cats.

Chili Garden is hands down my favorite restaurant in Puerto. It’s a lovely oasis off the beaten path. They have an eclectic menu with a range of options for both vegetarians and for the more carnivorous types. The food is absolutely delicious and always fresh and the service is impeccable. It’s a relatively small restaurant so try to make a reservation ahead of time. Provecho:)
